Ashland Elks Lodge @ 350 sponsors MVS Top 20 Finalist.
21,000 students applied for the Elks 2022 Most Valuable Student scholarship. With national judging concluded, the ENF is announcing some good news.
Tristen Sexton sponsored by Ashland, KY Lodge No. 350 has advanced through all levels of judging and is officially one of the Top 20 MVS Finalists! Tristen is Kentucky's fifth top 20 national MVS finalist in the last 5 years.
This means that Tristen will receive a scholarship of at least $20,000 from the Elks National Foundation and will interview for one of the top MVS awards of $30,000, $40,000, or $50,000 in early April.
Tristen is a Senior at East Carter High School in Grayson, Kentucky, where he has a 4.0 GOA and ranks first in his class. He will be attending the University of Louisville (Go Cards!) where he has not yet decided on a major, and is considering engineer. As with most MVS finalists, his leadership qualities match his academic stature. Tristen serves as President of the FFA, and has been selected for regional leadership in that organization. When asked about Tristen, his Chemistry teacher, Breianna Shaffer, said, “Tristin is a wonderful student that is always striving to go above anyone's expectations. Tristin has always strikes me as a student that will not accept no for an answer. I have watched him grow and flourish as a student since 7th grade. He is always confident and eager to take the lead on any project. Tristen impresses me with his maturity and ability to understand every situation.” When asked to talk about himself, Tristen is incredibly humble and appreciative of the opportunity to attend the National MVS Leadership Weekend. Even though the event will be held virtually again this year, it will be and outstanding opportunity to meet the other 19 national MVS Finalists.
Make sure to spread the good news! We’ll post more about our new Top 20 Finalists on the ENF’s social media pages, and we’ll officially announce the 480 MVS Semi-Finalists on the MVS webpage later this month.
If you have any well wishes for Tristen or any questions, please reply to this message by April 1. Thank you for helping us welcome our new scholars into the Elks family!
